Our History

In September of 2010, Harvest Bible Chapel Kansas City held our official launch service.
It was the culmination of many months, even years, of events that, though we knew little
of it then, were part of Gods sovereign design.

Our pastor, Jeff Terrell, had completed his seminary training at The Master’s Seminary
as well as the training program for church planting with Harvest Bible Fellowship’s
Training Center, and was in the midst of preparing to begin a church from scratch in
the Kansas City area. At the same time, Berean Bible Church was facing a number of
challenges, and had even considered closing the doors. However, Berean was the home
of a Christian school that was stable, and were patiently hanging on.

Jeff, when visiting the school as a potential option for his daughters’ education, ended up
in a conversation with one of Berean’s elders concerning how the church may revitalize
their ministry. In his mentioning Harvest, Jeff would tell you that he had not even
thought, at that point, of what the Lord had in mind. However, through a long chain of
events, the Berean elders voted unanimously to step down, to turn over the entire ministry of Berean Bible Church to Harvest Bible Chapel Kansas City, including the four-year-old and entirely paid for facility, and to trust the Lord in restoring the church to a position of influence in the community.

Today, as members of Harvest Bible Chapel, as we consider the occurrences
in the life of our young church, we are able to say unmistakably and in accordance with Psalm 118:23, “This is the Lord’s doing; It is marvelous in our eyes.”
