Week of Fasting – Lessons From Day One
So, you have made it through day one? Praise the Lord! Now, perhaps, reality is setting in. The stomach is growling. Your body is starting to say, “Hey! Have you forgotten about me?” And, then your mind begins to remind you there are still 5 and a half days left!
Let me encourage you to stick to your commitment. I’d like to share a brief testimony of my “Day One”. (I don’t plan on doing this every day, but I couldn’t pass this up.)
Today’s theme was glory. Two tangible responses from the Lord took place in my life today. Monday is a day I work to set aside for family. So, today was “project day.” Projects can be fun…they can also deliver unexpected costs. Well today, in the cost category, God provided the opposite. As we were taking inventory of what we needed, we discovered two resources we did not even realize that we had…thus, saving us money on our project!
Okay, it’s a little thing, I know. But, God taught me a big lesson. I rejoiced at both discoveries and shared them with Sally, telling her these were two “fast moments” and drawing her attention to the fact that God provided.
And, then it hit me! “The chief end of man is to glorify God by enjoying Him forever.” And, “God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him.”
You see, the Giver of every good and perfect gift (James 1:17) receives glory when we praise and worship Him for the gifts He gives – no matter how great or how small!
I pray that today you worshiped…that you meditated on the glory of God…and that you brought Him glory in everything you did.
